Thank you for visiting Starr Decoys and looking at my carvings.  I carved my first duck, a miniature black duck, with my father, Dr. George Ross Starr, Jr. M.D., in 1956 at nine years old.  There were over 2000 decoys in my fathers  Duxbury, Massachusetts house where he wrote "Decoys of the Atlantic Flyway". 

I started Starr Decoys outside Middlebury, Vermont in 1987 with the encouragement of my wife, Kathleen. My style evolved from my father's influence and reflects the clean lines of traditional hunting decoys. I do all the designing, carving and painting on each piece and sign and date them on the bottom.
